Hatching Chicks

Over the past couple of months we have been in the process of hatching chicks. We were all very excited four weeks ago today because they hatched! We had two mums nd about twenty eggs, and fifteen of them arrived but only thirteen survived. They got their first runabout on the grass last week, and now they are raring to get out each afternoon! We think only four of them are cockerels but we aren't sure yet. Here they are at night:

Two of them are white, and the rest are black and orange. We kept them separate from the rest of the flock until they were about two weeks old, then let them in with the others. There was some fighting, but they have now settled in well.

    1. Thank you, they are very soft! Maybe you guys could come over sometime to hold them? They are much bigger now!
